Three market intelligence companies have provided their estimates of global smartphone shipments in Q1, putting yesterday’s Apple earnings report into perspective. Apple yesterday announced that iPhone revenue for calendar Q1 (fiscal Q2) was down from $31.05B in 2019 to $28.96B this year, a relatively modest fall of 6.7%. The comparative estimates from IDC, Counterpoint and Omdia follow an earlier one from TrendForce … None of the companies come up with the same estimate for global smartphone shipments during the quarter, but all suggest Apple fared better than most in terms of year-on-year decline....

Google’s iPhone and iPad note capturing app is out with a feature update today in the latest version. Keep users can now add an app widget to the Today view in Notification Center for capturing material in the app from anywhere with a swipe down. iOS users can also add a new Keep extension using the latest update for sending websites and other information to Keep without opening it and leaving the app you’re already in....
