Google today has updated its Google Maps application for iOS with a new feature to bring it in line with its Android counterpart. With today’s update, Google Maps now includes a “match” feature that will help suggest new restaurants it thinks you will enjoy…
With the match feature, Google Maps will use the data it has available on you, such as other places you’ve visited and interests you provide, to predict if you would like a particular restaurant.
For instance, when I search for Chick-fil-A, Google Maps predicts that it’s a 75 percent match based on my preferences (seems a bit low). Match percentages are shown alongside restaurant reviews, and you can tap the rating for more details on how Google calculated its score.
Google says:
This feature first made its way to Google Maps on Android last month following its announcement in May. Starting today, it’s available in the iOS counterpart as well.
In addition to match scores, today’s Google Maps for iOS update includes changes to the trending list in the Explore tab. Here, you’ll now be able to see “how many restaurants you’ve been to.”
Google Maps is available as a free download on the App Store.
