A new version of Google Maps for iOS is available and it brings a refreshed bottom bar with some handy functionality.

Google Maps for Android first received these features about a year ago, and they are now arriving on the popular navigation app for iOS. As spotted by The Verge, the new bottom bar makes it easier to see what’s going on around you as well as offering quick access to real-time driving and transit information.

Across the bottom of the app, users will now see three new tabs, Explore, Driving, and Transit.

Explore lets users easily see what’s going on around them with a section for current events as well as weather, and restaurant suggestions for any time of day. More options include quick search buttons for ATMs, Cafes, Pharmacies, Gas stations, and Groceries.

The Explore section also includes popular photos of the area and a short written overview.

The new Driving and Transit tabs include fast access to directions and local commute information, with Google Maps recommending users to add their home and work addresses for ease of use (if you haven’t already). Another change in this update is the option to choose custom icons for home and work.

Google Maps is a free download from the App Store.
