Google is gradually opening the door for various devices to embrace the Augmented Reality in the coming days. Speaking of which, the Measure App from Google is getting an update with support for devices with ARCore feature. You can download the latest Google Measure App 2.0 from the play store now. The current update to Measure App also brings New UI with improvement in visualization and controls.
Using the Google Measure App 2.0 is quite easy. There is a drawer at the bottom that allows users to drag either a length or height tool into the camera viewfinder. Then the user can see the Surfaces highlighting with grid of dots.

Users can adjust the ends of the selected tool to get the perfect measurement. The measurement result will appear beside an orange/blue bar. Orange bar represents height and blue represent length respectively.
To save the measurement results users can click a photo. There is a capture button in the top-right corner. It saves the image to the photo library. Users also get the upper hand with the Precision Display option in the Settings. It enables the user to see the result in exact round figure or with an approximation.
Augment Reality is the enhancement of the sense of reality. In this, physical real-world environments are augmented with machine-generated images, materials over a user’s concurrent view of the real-world. Hence, this enhances one’s current perception of reality. AR simply uses your existing natural environment and puts virtual information on top of it. It is just the opposite of Virtual reality where the creation/presence of a virtual environment is a must. ARCore SDK v1.2 is now available for the developers to develop Apps with AR support.
