From 9to5Google:
With the acquisition of the company in September, Bump and Flock CEO and co-founder David Lieb quietly announced last night that both apps were shutting down effective January 31st. According to a brief blog post on the Bump site, Lieb says his team is “deeply focused on our new projects within Google” and given that the acquisition appears to be talent-driven, the shutdown comes as little surprise.
Users of either service will have an opportunity to export data by accessing either app and following the necessary instructions. Lieb encourages users to grab any data prior to the January 31st deadline as all user data will be deleted after that date comes and goes. The data export will allow users to receive an email link containing all data including photos, video, contacts from both Bump and Flock.
Bump enjoyed a small measure of popularity after being mentioned by Apple in TV ads as an inventive way to share user information as the app world continued helping us move away from traditional business practices. Unfortunately, like many good apps before it and many that will come long after the calling of a larger purpose came to pass and with that both apps will soon disappear. The CEO’s full blog post follows:

All good things…
We are now deeply focused on our new projects within Google, and we’ve decided to discontinue Bump and Flock. On January 31, 2014, Bump and Flock will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. After this date, neither app will work, and all user data will be deleted.
We’ve taken much care to make sure that you can retain any data you have in Bump and Flock. At any point in the next 30 days, simply open either app and and follow the instructions for exporting your data. You’ll then receive an email with a link containing all of your data (photos, videos, contacts, etc) from Bump or Flock.
Over the years, we’ve been inspired and humbled by the millions of people who have used Bump and Flock. Your feedback, enthusiasm, and support has brought much meaning to our work, and we want to thank you all for that. In many ways, Bump was a revolutionary product that inspired many subsequent advances and helped push the world forward. We hope our new creations at Google will do the same.
