Frankie Bergstein is the hippy-dippy burst of energy that makes Netflix’s Grace and Frankie the success that it is. As the former wife of Sol and best friend to Grace, Frankie is surrounded by people who love and adore her. Even her ex-husband couldn’t escape her charms and called her his soulmate, even though he’s in a new marriage. Frankie has this whimsical way about her that sucks the most none-suspecting of people into her arms, making them never want to leave.
Now that Grace and Frankie is heading into its seventh and final season, let’s take a look at some of Frankie’s best quotes from the sixth season, streaming now on Netflix.
“We Almost Named Coyote ‘Hamburglar’ But Ultimately Decided That Was A Ridiculous Name For A Child."
Frankie is the proud mama to Nwabudike (“Bud”) and Coyote, both of whom she adopted with her ex-husband Sol. Bud is the eldest and followed in his dad’s footsteps, working at the law firm. Coyote, on the other hand, took another path down a dark road, but is finally sober and creating a cleaner life for himself.
In this scene, Frankie has some assistance in getting her house in order now that Grace moved in with Nick. The guru helping Frankie asks why she still has a Hamburglar toy from McDonald’s, and her reasoning is because she almost named her son Hamburglar. But since Hamburglar is a strange name, she ironically chose Coyote instead.
“How Can I Be The Cool One In The Relationship With A Hearing Aid? Besides, They’ve Never Once Gone With My Outfit.”
After Frankie totally spaced out on hearing what Jack said on their first date, Grace tries to convince Frankie to get a hearing aid. Frankie is strongly opposed to getting one, especially since it clashes with most of her outfits. She’s also nervous that wearing a hearing aid will make her look uncool — even though she’s anything but. Frankie practically created “cool.”
“And I’m A Sucker For A Gal Who’s A Sucker For A Dry Martini.”
Dana Marino is a “genius,” according to Joan-Margret, which is why she hired her to help Frankie get her life in order. With Grace newly married and living with Nick, Frankie had to get used to living life on her own. And while Frankie was not warm and inviting to Dana, the two really hit it off during the day.
When it was quitting time, Dana asked if she could make herself a dry martini, which is exactly what Grace drinks. The coincidence was enough to make Frankie smile and relax for the first time since Grace moved out.
“Thanks, I Was Going For Thunder Dome Meets Pepper From The Muppets Vibe.”
Frankie has a unique style, to say the least. She loves fabric and texture and isn’t afraid of color or big jewelry. She wears what matches her personality in the moment, and it really separates her apart from other women her age.
After Grace asked Frankie to join her at a charity function, Nick complimented Frankie on how nice she looked. She explained that she was going for a combination of Thunder Dome and Pepper from The Muppets Movie, which is actually exactly what she looked like.
“Who Is She? She’s Chic, She’s Sleek, She’ll Cradle Those Cheeks. She’s Sexy Yet Functional. She’s Fun Yet Mature. She’s The Helen Mirren Of Plumbing Fixtures!”
Is there anything better than seeing Frankie’s product explanation of the Rise Up? In the fifth episode “The Confessions,” Frankie is breaking down her idea to Grace. The Rise Up will be “sleek” and “chic” while also being the “Helen Mirren of plumbing fixtures.”
Her comparison of their inventive toilet to an award-winning actress is comedy gold. No one could pull off a line like this except for Frankie. Truth be told, with a sales pitch like this, it should have been Frankie who delivered Rise Up’s proposal when the two were on Shark Tank.
“I’ve Set The Stage But Now I’ve To Go Out And Be Lady Gaga Because This Guy Is Cool.”
Fans were devastated when Frankie and Jacob broke up. They seemed like the perfect match! Since then, Frankie hasn’t been too smitten by anyone — until she met Jack at a charity function. Jack was a fellow Deadhead and had the same tastes as Frankie. The two really hit it off, which made Frankie nervous when it came time to their first date. She was self-conscious about what she was going to wear and how she was going to act in front of such a “cool” guy. But let’s be real, it’s Jack who needs to impress Frankie.
“Would You Throw Out A Child Who’s Missing A Fork And Had A Leak?”
In the fifth episode, Bud and Allison are trying to set Coyote up on a blind date with one of Allison’s good friends. To prepare for the evening, the gang is heading to Sol and Robert’s home for a fondue party. Sol believes a fondue party is the ultimate conversation starter and a great activity to do when meeting new people.
Robert stopped by Frankie’s house to borrow a fondue pot but she warns him that one pot has a leak. He asks why she hasn’t thrown it out already and she quickly compares her fondue pots to her children. She can’t just throw one away when they’re injured!
“As A Younger Person Myself, Even I Have Felt Uncomfortable Being Around You!”
Grace has a complex with age. She hates being older and has been lying about her real age for years. So when she and Nick were going to a charity function for the first time as a couple, she was nervous about being an older woman on Nick’s arm. Her anxiousness ended up getting the best of her and she insulted a very sweet woman, simply because she was young and “vapid.” Frankie reminded Grace that she can be an intimidating woman who even frightens her from time to time.
“I Wanted To Thank You For Letting Me Take My Shoes Off In Here.”
On Jack and Frankie’s first date, he tells her a dark secret that he hopes she can get past. The problem was that they were in a very loud and stuffy restaurant, which led to Frankie not hearing a thing (and lying about it). After the date, Jack thanks Frankie for being such a nice listener and for not judging his past. In return, Frankie thanks him for allowing her to take her uncomfortable shoes off in his car, creating a sense of comfortability and adoration for our dear Frankie.
“I Did Post A Selfie Of Me And Jack On Our Two Month’s Textaversary… It Might Have Gone Viral.”
Viewers were as surprised as Frankie was when her ex-boyfriend Jacob showed up in her life again. Seeing Jacob and how in love with her he still was, Frankie was torn on what to do. She really liked her new guy Jack but Jacob was always the one who got away. What’s a girl to do?
Frankie didn’t even understand why Jacob came back to see her in the first place. He mentioned he saw a post on Facebook claiming she was dying and the thought of losing her was enough to make him move back to the area to be with her. However, Frankie assumed he moved back because he saw a picture of her and her new guy on their “textaversary.”
