In case we need to say more (which we doubt we do), this film follows a Los Angeles man, who has been living in LA for years, as he returns back home. However, while house-sitting for his brother, he becomes infatuated with his brother’s assistant. This film is totally heart-felt and hilarious, and it stars some absolutely brilliant actors. If you need a pick-me-up, we suggest looking no further than this hidden gem.

Mistress America (2015) - 82%

Greta Gerwig is the leading lady in this one, alongside Lola Kirke and Shana Dowdeswell. This comedy drama follows a college freshman whose life becomes much more complicated when her stepsister-to-be comes into the picture.

This is a genuine and quirky story of sisterhood and young adulthood, and we definitely recommend this hilarious and wholesome film starring your favorite gal, and which also did super well on Rotten Tomatoes.

Eden (2014) - 82%

This movie centers around Paul, a teenager in ’90s Paris. Paul forms a DJ collective with his friends, and they soon find themselves in the underground nightlife of drugs, sex, and music. This film is based on a true story, and is full and drama and music. Starring Felix de Givry, this film is a cultural trip full of youth and adventure. We definitely recommend this wholesome and enthralling treat.

Nights and Weekends (2008) - 85%

This romance drama stars Joe Swanberg and Greta Gerwig. They play a man and a woman in a long-distance relationship, and the tensions and complications that result from it. This film is honest, and definitely also relatable. These two are brilliant in this film, and we think this movie is perfect for a heartfelt and heart-wrenching night in. Definitely give this one a go. ALSO: these two are the mastermind directors and writers, too. So, it really couldn’t be any more brilliant.

Maggie’s Plan (2015) - 86%

This romantic comedy stars Maggie (Greta Gerwig), a woman who wants to have a baby. However, when she gets romantically involved with John (Ethan Hawke), things get complicated and Maggie’s plans get twisted.

Oh, yeah, John is also a married man. Again, this film is totally quirky, hilarious, relatable, and wholesome. Honestly, Greta is so genuine, and these rom-coms are some of our favs. It also stars Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Julianne Moore. Need we say anything else?

Jackie (2016) - 87%

This biography drama tells the story of Jackie Kennedy, following the assassination of her husband, and the president, John F. Kennedy. Natalie Portman plays the leading lady, but her costars include Peter Sarsgaard and Greta Gerwig. This film is absolutely genuine, dramatic, and enthralling. It was also nominated for 3 Academy Awards, and definitely will give you your full of a women-led political biography. We definitely recommend it.

The House of the Devil (2019) - 87%

In case you already thought Greta could do it all, what about horror flicks? This film takes place in the ’80s, and centers around a college student who is financing her education with babysitting gigs. However, one job coincides with a lunar eclipse, and she slowly begins to realize that her clients are not what they seemed to be. This film probably missed your radar, and definitely isn’t super popular, but it has a pretty impressive rating (especially for a horror movie). If you want to see the versatile and brilliant Greta Gerwig, AND love horror flicks, here you go.

20th Century Women (2016) - 89%

This comedy drama is a must for all you feminists out there. This story follows a teenage boy, his mother, and two women who help raise him. This story takes place in California during 1979, and is all about love and freedom. It stars Elle Fanning, Annette Bening, Billy Crudup, and Greta Gerwig. This film is wholesome, funny, and totally genuine.

It’s also Oscar nominated, for Best Original Screenplay. Greta definitely takes pride in being apart of critically acclaimed projects, and this one is no different.

Isle of Dogs (2018) - 90%

This animated adventure is set in Japan, and follows a boy’s journey in the search of his missing pup. This movie is directed by the brilliant and unique Wes Anderson, which makes it pretty unsurprising that this film is rated so highly. Voices in this film include Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Scarlett Johansson, our leading lady Greta Gerwig, and many, many more! This film was also nominated for two Oscars, included Best Animated Feature Film and Best Achievement for Original Score. Need we say anything else? You’re definitely missing out if you haven’t seen this masterpiece.

Frances Ha (2012) - 92%

This romantic comedy follows a New York woman (Greta Gerwig), as she apprentices for a dance company. The catch, though, is that she doesn’t really have an apartment, and she’s not really a dancer. However, she bounces headfirst into her dreams. Mickey Sumner and Adam Driver also star in this film, and it’s safe to say this drama is hilarious, quirky, and absolutely wholesome. It was even nominated for a Golden Globe, where Greta was nominated for her role. Honestly, if you haven’t seen this film yet, we suggest doing it right now.
