Hannah Brown hit a breaking point during this week’s rehearsal for Dancing With the Stars. Although she advanced to the final five, the former star of The Bachelorette had a rough week in rehearsals. Brown has been open about her struggles over the course of the season, but the November 11 episode showed a particularly emotional side of the star.
Brown first appeared on the latest season of The Bachelorette, where she set out on a journey to find love. Unfortunately, her story ended in heartbreak when she broke off her engagement after finding out that her fiancée was dating another woman right before coming on the show. When she agreed to do Dancing With the Stars, she saw the opportunity as a way to get her mojo back. Unfortunately, she has faced quite a few emotional highs and lows over the course of the season. Just two weeks ago, she posted an Instagram that detailed her difficult journey. She stated that she came into the experience broken and confused, but excited to embrace her newfound confidence. However, she also claimed that each week brought up past fears and worries and that she was struggling with her own desire to succeed. She said she was feeling a disconnect from the show and that she was struggling to give it her all. But she ended the post on a happy note, claiming that her attitude was the problem and that she was going to work to improve and be the best she could be. Sadly, her tumultuous emotions caught up with her yet again this week.
On the November 11 episode of the show, Us Weekly documented Brown’s breakdown during rehearsal with her partner, Alan Bersten. Brown said to Bersten, “I think I’m about to freaking blow up,” Bersten, who seemed to be just as frustrated, asked what was wrong and that’s when Brown started to cry. Later, in her interview, Brown explained that the entire experience had highs and lows, saying, “I know what I’m capable of and I do not want this to end.” She continued, “I need to dance and perform the way that I know that I can and give it all that I’ve got.” On the night of the performance, cohost Erin Andrews asked about the tension between Brown and Bersten during rehearsals. Brown again explained that her breakdown was just a result of frustration, mostly because she wants to win so badly.
Despite her emotional moment, Brown had a fairly good night on Dancing With the Stars. While she and Bersten received some harsh criticism during their first performance, their second dance was met with high praise. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, in particular, reached out to encourage the star, saying, “There’s a lot of pressure on you right now. I can feel it.” Inaba continued, “You had a really intense couple of weeks. If you want to win this competition, you have to bring your A-game every time. Thank you for being back your A-game.” Brown responded positively to Inaba’s comments, letting the judge know that her words reminded the star that she has what it takes to win. Brown alluded to her earlier breakdown, saying, “I think also, within myself, I knew that I needed to get over some of these hurdles.”
While Hannah Brown is beloved by many, she’s never been one to hide her emotions. In fact, her ability to be open and honest with what she’s feeling is one of the major draws of her fan base. Unfortunately, she’s also shown that she struggles to manage her feelings, particularly in a high-stress environment. While she’s moving forward at a steady pace on Dancing With the Stars, communication with her partner and an ability to deal with her stress more effectively will be crucial to her success.
