Events for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and the DC Universe’s Harley Quinn animated series have been announced for New York Comic-Con. The DC character has quite the year coming up, especially with the highly-anticipated release of the Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey. The upcoming Warner Bros. and DC outing is directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson. Along with Robbie returning as Quinn, Birds of Prey also stars an A-list cast that includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Chris Messina as Victor Zsaz. Though not much is known about the plot, brief teasers and a colorful poster have given fans a glimpse at the campy fun that’s yet to come.

The new R-Rated Harley Quinn animated series is also shaping up to be an exciting new venture for DC. The show is the first animated outing for DC Universe and already has an impressive cast. The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco will be voicing Quinn and Alan Tudyk will be voicing the Joker and Clayface. Some other impressive cast members include Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, James Wolk as Superman, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gorden, Wanda Sykes as Queen of Fables, and Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor. Even though many details for the show are still being kept under wraps, it looks like NYCC will have some fun things in store for Harley Quinn fans.

At the DC booth on Thursday, October 3, NYCC attendees can expect to see, “several never-before-seen Birds of Prey character costumes from the film.” Fans can also take part in “photo opportunities, giveaways, and cosplay meet-ups,” along with seeing “new lifestyle products inspired by the film.” There’s also set to be a Harley Quinn pop-up gallery on Friday, October 4, at DC Universe’s Headquarters, which will debut a pop-up installation called, “The Fantabulous Evolution of One Harley Quinn Gallery.” As for the Harley Quinn animated series, fans will have the chance to “catch an early look at DC UNIVERSE’S adult animated action-comedy series” on Sunday, October 6.

These events will certainly be a spectacular celebration of the DC character and will allow fans to get a closer look at both upcoming projects. Considering that not much is known plot-wise about either production, NYCC would be the perfect opportunity to reveal more details. As far as Birds of Prey goes, fans have mainly gotten brief glimpses at the film through set photos, so hopefully, there’ll be more surprises in store beyond the costumes.

It’s fun to see the hype around Harley Quinn continue to escalate. Both Birds of Prey and the DC Universe animated series are a celebration of female-centric storytelling. The DC character is having her own narrative told in new and refreshing ways, and it’s exciting to see small glimpses at what’s to come. Not to mention, it looks like NYCC will have an array of exciting Harley Quinn-themed activities in store for fans old and new.
