Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan Markle will officially give up $88 Billion to become financially independent from the rest of their family. The couple is happy to leave the money behind to be able to start new outside the eyes of the prying media.
Since the couple announced last week on January 8th, that they would be stepping aside from their duties as senir members of the royal family, Buckingham Palace has been trying to figure out how to fix their sticky situation. Prince Harry and Markle have not been married very long but since their wedding, his wife has received heavy criticism from the media regarding her stance on becoming a royal. The actress never wanted to be a silent figurehead, which begs the question, which leavs fans wondering why Markle agreed to become a royal in the first place.
Every child had dreams about leaving the family home to become their own person with Prince Harry not being an exception. Us Weekly reported that a source said that The Duke’s relationship with his father, Prince Charles, had become a bit more complicated since the emergency family meeting. The source of contention seemed to be the royal family’s $88 billion dollar fortune which is distributed by Prince Charles. The Duke and Duchess reportedly received a royal stipend of $6.5 million which calculates to 95 percent of their income from the prince’s father
Now it would seem that Prince Charles will have to decide whether or not to keep paying his son and his new wife. The Duchess does not seem to be afraid of her powerful in-laws which she showed by not phoning into the emergency family meeting on Monday from Canada like she was supposed to. Markle also expressed interest in directing and producing if the chance occurred, and there are also rumors that a talk show could possibly be in the works; but right now, the source explained that she is focusing on working with her charities.The actress had also gone back to her roots by signing a contract with Disney to do voiceover work for the charity Elephants Without Borders.
Right now, it is obvious to the royal family and their admirers that Markle is determined to break free of the mundane life of being a royal which included her husband standing by her side. Since the meeting, The Queen has stated that she supports her grandson but did wish he would continue to perform his duties. Queen Elizabeth II and her family now must come to a decision regarding the future of their couple within the next few days.
