Good news today for iTunes podcasters: Adam Carolla has won in his fight against patent trolls Personal Audio after more than a year of litigation. The outcome likely means that the patent troll will cut its losses with suing other podcasters, something it has been threatening to do with others in the community throughout the case with Carolla. The news of a settlement today (via the Electronic Frontier Foundation) comes after Personal Audio offered to walk away from the case last month in a press release....

Despite skipping through the process multiple times, Google has continued to harass me with phone number requests. How many times will I have to login and skip it before Google gets the idea? Where is the opt-out button? And yes… I know you say it’s for my own good in case I lock myself out of my account. But still, no thanks. Even after clicking the tiny skip button, a confirmation window will appear....

As per reports surfacing, Google is testing a new feature on their Gboard QWERTY app. This feature will alert the user when any GIF, emoji or sticker that is relevant to their text is available. According to Android Police, this is how the feature works. As you type, if the Gboard figures out what you are typing, the G in the predictive bar will turn into a GIF icon, smiley or whatever is available....

Version 60 of Google Chrome is rolling out now to macOS with the long awaited Touch Bar support. This release also adds support for a number of developer-focused features, including the Payment Request API and an updated Credential Management API. After several months of testing in the beta and dev versions, Chrome for Mac is finally rolling out support for the Touch Bar in the stable channel. It’s slightly tweaked with the Omnibox for searching and entering URLs featuring a Google logo, while there is now a bookmark and new tab shortcut....

Auto-Linking Google actually decided to pay some attention to links and realized that typing in text with http://www. every time isn’t really efficient. Instead, now you can just write groovyPost.com and Google Docs will still recognize it as a valid link and it will be accessible with just a click. If you don’t want to make the text you just typed in to be a link, a simple Ctrl + Z will do the job....

Get ready, the ability to get your Google Assistant to call your local eateries to make reservations is now rolling out to non-Pixel devices and iOS in the United States. Google Duplex is now slowly being pushed to devices that don’t have the Google logo embossed upon them. If you were unaware, Google Duplex was announced at I/O 2018 and allows you to ask the Google Assistant to call businesses or restaurants to book appointments and reserve tables all without needing to pick up the receiver yourself....

Update: The Spaces app is now live in the App Store and on the web. Google can’t seem to stop making social networks and messaging apps. In fairness, the just announced Spaces app is referred to as a tool for small group sharing. While similar to the Communities feature that Google+ is now built around, the new app seems like a much more focused version of group messaging that better highlights content....

On February 28, TAG member Shane Huntley published a bulletin sharing some of the unit’s latest efforts to tackle the spread of misinformation, including the removal of a coordinated campaign involving these countries – a topical issue considering the current Russia-Ukraine conflict. The influence operation was terminated in January, prior to the start of the conflict, but at a time when tensions between Russia and Ukraine was rising due to the presence of Russian troops at Ukraine’s border....

Clearly, Apple would have preferred to have another huge venue open for Black Friday but we’ve been told by a GC Apple employee today that they’ve been told to continue working at other New York Area Apple Stores during Black Friday weekend. Last weekend, a group of employees was told that the opening announcement was scheduled for today and Apple was going to try to open for Black Friday....
