SonicWall says in an advisory that it “strongly urges” customers to apply new fixes to address eight flaws that the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) warns would allow a remote attacker to take control of an affected system. CISA recommends customers apply the necessary firmware updates “as soon as possible”, in part because they’ve historically been popular targets for attackers. The eight bugs range from critical to medium severity and affect a sensitive piece of the network since they provide employees with remote access to internal resources....

In September 2021, over 1 million GoDaddy customers suffered a data breach. Security researchers explained that the breach happened due to inadequate protection. According to GoDaddy’s statement, their WordPress Managed Hosting affected customers have had their passwords changed. However, changing passwords will not solve all the problems hackers left behind, which means that up to 1.2 million GoDaddy hosting customers may still be at risk. According to GoDaddy’s investigation, the attack started on September 6, 2021, and was only discovered two months later, on November 17, and GoDaddy notified the US Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 22, 2021....

Google’s director of government affairs and public policy Lucinda Longcroft was repeatedly asked by the committee about YouTube displaying Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party (UAP) ads containing COVID-19 misinformation. At least nine UAP ads presented incomplete extracts of a Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) report on vaccinations to convey misleading COVID-19 information, according to committee deputy chair and Labor representative Tim Watts. Conceding the existence of these ads on YouTube, Longcroft told the committee that the platform’s COVID-19 misinformation policies are “robust, rapid, and effectively enforced” as it had issued one strike to the UAP for these ads, which removed the political party’s YouTube privileges for a week....

The new “integrated view” for Gmail is intended to make it “easy to move between critical applications like Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified location”, according to Google. In the official update announcement, Google stated this new change to their ranking algorithm would effect 11.8% of their overall searches. When they say 11.8%, it doesn’t sound like a big number –but in Google’s case, that 11.8% comes out to around 200 million of all searches performed daily that will be effected by the new algorithm.
