Netflix’s GLOW was a fantastic series that really took off for the streaming service. Whether it be boxing, MMA, or professional wrestling the stories all tend to be based are men, which is why this show was so refreshing....

On the Netflix original GLOW, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling use their craft to tell dramatic, intricate stories that have viewers on the edge of their seats. Outside of the ring, the ladies’ lives are just as complex and engrossing. They are constantly in an underdog position, both in terms of the show—always on the brink of cancellation—and their personal lives....

Google has this morning pushed an update to AdSense for iOS, bringing many features that other apps in the Mountain View company’s catalog received months ago. While it may not be the most popular app outside of publishing and creative circles, the AdSense app has today been updated with support for Native iPhone 6 and 6 Plus resolution, Material Design, and more. Rounding out the update is support for Hindi and Malay, a new icon for the Home Screen, more metrics, and a today center widget....

In May, Google circulated a draft proposal to effectively kill Adobe Flash by blocking the plugin and prioritizing HTML5 by the end of the year. The company is going ahead with that plan to “de-emphasize” Flash with a staged disabling of the plug-in through multiple versions of Chrome. Starting with Chrome 53 — currently in beta — in September, background Flash elements, like page analytics, will be blocked. Google notes that today 90% of the plug-in loads in the background and is used solely for things like analytics....

Interesting new tool from Google: Android apps are in Java, while iOS is in Objective C, but this tool allows those who develop in Java an easier way to convert their apps to iOS. Interesting move. J2ObjC enables Java code to be part of an iOS application’s build, as no editing of the generated files is necessary. The goal is to write an application’s non-UI code (such as data access, or application logic) in Java, which can then be shared by Android apps, web apps (using GWT), and iOS....
